Samsung planned on releasing a special Olympic Edition of the Galaxy S20 last year itself but canceled it after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were deferred by a year due to the pandemic.

Regular Galaxy S21 in a Shiny New Color

Based on the regular Galaxy S21 5G, this special edition of the phone distinguishes itself with its color scheme and design of the rear panel. It has a dark blue rear panel that’s made out of plastic and features the iconic Olympic rings at the bottom. The camera housing and aluminum frame use a striking golden hue.

The Olympic Edition Galaxy S21 5G also features an exclusive Olympic theme and Olympic Games wallpaper. In other aspects, this device is similar to the regular Galaxy S21. This means you get a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. The device is IP68 certified, so it is dust and water-resistant as well.

The rear camera setup is also the same as the regular Galaxy S21. This means you get a 12MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 64MP telephoto camera.  At the front, there’s a 10MP selfie camera housed in the centered punch-hole. There’s also an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery, with support for 25W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It will run on Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on top of it.

No Details on Pricing Yet

Samsung and NTT DoCoMo have not yet revealed the price of the Galaxy S21 5G Olympic Edition. The device is not available for pre-orders, though you can reserve it ahead of its launch that’s scheduled for early June. The device will only be available through DoCoMo’s online sales channels, as noted by the carrier on its official website.

As the naming scheme indicates, the Galaxy S21 5G Olympic Edition will only be available in Japan on NTT DoCoMo’s network. It will be available in limited quantities, so if you really want to get your hands on one, make sure to reserve one for yourself right away.

The 2021 Olympic Games are scheduled to start on July 23. It is likely Samsung and NTT DoCoMo will reveal the pricing details of the Galaxy S21 5G Olympic Games Edition before that, provided the event is not canceled again due to the pandemic.
